Warriors take game 1

In an Oklahoma late affair, the South Coast Warriors defeated Tucson High 9-1 in the 1st round of the Mickey Mantle 15U World Series. Due to some earlier games running late, this game didn't get started until 11pm Central time and finished up at 1am.

Jordan Wirth was dominate on the mound for the Warriors going 5 innings and only allowing 1 run and limiting Tucson to 3 hits. Shane Jones came on in the 6th and went 1,2,3 to close it out.

The Warriors offense was led by a Dan James home run and 2 doubles. Mitchell Tolman chipped in with an rbi single and double and Nick Villar, coming off the home run derby victory, stayed patient at the plate and took what they gave him by drawing 2 walks and hitting a hard single up the middle.

Tonight the Warriors come back at 9pm and take on the home team Owasso High School. Should be a large crowd on hand as apparently there is nothing else to do in town other than watch youth baseball........ Rumor has it they are a big, vocal crowd. Should be fun!

Go Warriors,

Bill
