ET / Beckman

El Toro - 5
Beckman - 0

After the rain out yesterday, this was game 1 for the Chargers in the Foothill Tournament.

Chasen Ford got his first start of the year and threw great. He took a no hitter into the 5th before finally surrendering a 2 out double. He responded by striking out the next Patriot ending the only threat of a score on the day.

On the offensive side, El Toro didn't fare much better. The Chargers put a run on the board in the third and they did it with two outs. Jayson Yano walked, Mitch Tolman hit by pitch, James Meager walk and then Jake Tredwell laced a 2-2 fastball off the 2nd baseman's glove bringing in the 1st run of the day.

In the 4th, Tredwell led off with ET's first hit of the day, stole 2nd and Matt Le Vert strode to the plate. Le Vert has been the Chargers most dangerous hitter on the year and he showed why on the first pitch, driving a double to deep center field bringing in Tredwell. Le Vert leads El Toro in HR's, doubles and rbi's, doing his job batting in the clean up spot. Logan Roberts followed Le Vert with a walk and then Devin Schaefers ripped a single thru the drawn in infield scoring 2 more. After Brian Graves dropped down a beautiful sacrifice bunt, Cort Lioi muscled a 1-1 pitch to the farthest reaches of the park for his 1st double on the year, driving in 2 and bringing the score to 5-0.

Ricky Schafer came on in the 7th to close it out.

El Toro comes back tomorrow with a 3pm game against El Modena, venue is Foothill High School in Tustin.

Go Chargers,

Bill
