Steroids and the Angels

This topic came up today about the Angels and if an asterisk should be applied to their 02 World Series Championship.

Troy Glaus admitted recently he was taking steroids that year (he was selected the World Series MVP) and pitchers Scott Schoeneweis and Brandon Donnelly have also been "outed" from that team. And let's face it, with all of the known drug and substance issues Scott Spezio has gone through, I don't think we can rule him out here.

That's quite a few key guys from that team connected with steroids. Does it taint their title?

You tell me.

I think we could call the last 10-20 years the era of steroids and put them in a different class. I'm sure it was an even playing field with generally all of the star players seemingly coming out as having used.
There was a show on ESPN the other night about old baseball - Babe Ruth, DiMaggio. The class era. Can't we bring better role models up for our kids?

I don't know about the last 20 years, but who knows. As to the Angels and the World Series, I think the prevailing argument is, look who was on the other side..

Hell yes it does! Easy way to fix this. A's had the best record in the AL that year. The way I see it, the title drops to them ... 2002 World Series Champion Oakland Athletics! Nice ring to it ...

I don't think that has any "ring" to it.........
